I would like to welcome all speakers to work together to preserve our language. Presently there are less 200 speakers in Kanehsatake. We must all work together to preserve our language for the survival of the Kanienkehaka Nation.

Basic principles for language preservation and survival.

  • To learn through every variety of learning strategy available from cultural methods to modern technology.
  • Establish a speaking relationship with an elder, this takes time, commitment and dedication.
  • Understand that cultural and language are one. "Culture is living the language: Language is speaking the culture"
